With its majestic, deep-hued façade occupying the entire corner lot of Jalan Telawi 3 Bangsar, Roots Bangsar is a formidable vegetarian Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur.
It's a mark of authority for high-quality dining at affordable prices. Each dish is plated to perfection, featuring an amalgamation of flavors that surprises even the most discerning palate with meatless ingredients.
Its luxurious interior boasts a strong play of dark colours and a burst of orange, setting the stage for a meal that not only trills the taste buds,
This would be one of my favorite vegetarian restaurants in KL, and its upscale appearance makes it perfect for social outings!
About Roots Bangsar

Established on 28 August 2024, Roots Bangsar is the second outlet in Malaysia after its inaugural opening in Johor Bahru two years earlier.
This vegetarian restaurant in KL is owned by 3 brothers, named Ian Tan, Sean Tan, and Tan Chee Seng.
The brothers have different backgrounds and skills that contribute to the business. Harnessing their differing educational backgrounds, Ian Tan, who is a trained biomedical professional, is the cofounder and handles all marketing aspects.
Sean injects his culinary flair into the Roots Bangsar menu, drawing on his rich experience in the food and beverage industry. Chee Seng, on the other hand is a trained IT analyst who helms accounting and human resource-related matters.
To keep their loyalists from coming back for more, this meatless restaurant even has a membership program. The exclusive program offers diners early access to special menus, birthday discounts, and seasonal rewards.
How to Get To Roots Bangsar
There isn't any public transport that stops close to Roots Bangsar, so your best bet is to either hail a Grab ride or drive there.
The nearest LRT station to Roots Bangsar is LRT Bangsar. Separated by 2km distance which will take approximately 23 minutes, expect to be sweaty by the time you reach the bistro should you choose to walk.
The other alternative is to take the bus and disembark at the KJL bus stop, which is again another 2 - 3 minutes’ walk to the restaurant.
Ease of Parking
The Jalan Telawi Bangsar area is notorious for its lack of parking spaces and high vehicle traffic. So it’s going to take patience and time to find street parking.
It would be less hassling to park inside Bangsar Village 2 Shopping Mall, which is a short 2 - 3 minutes’ walk away.
Ambiance at Roots Bangsar

Roots Bangsar’s exudes contemporary elegance with a warm display of navy blue tones and woody orange furniture. Its cozy ambiance greets guests and puts us at ease, making it a favorite hangout for hours of chatter.

On the right is an open display of cakes, sourdough bread, and desserts flanked by the drinks bar, while the seating area with different table sizes is neatly arranged on the left.
Food at Roots Bangsar

For starters, the Roasted Pumpkin Soup is a deserving chef recommendation. The sweetness from the pumpkin with hints of spice made its smooth texture a delight to savor.

The Signature Wild Mushroom Soup was above average. Heavily infused with earthy undertones from garden mushrooms, it tantalized our taste buds with its umami flavors.
Each soup comes with 2 servings of bread in a basket.

The spiciness from the mala clings to each strand of linguine, complemented by fried lotus, broccoli, roasted peanuts, and green leafy vegetables. This is one dish where one plate is potentially not enough!

The Homemade Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli consist of mini pasta parcels of heavenly explosions filled with a secret vegetable mix, mushrooms, and cheeses. Coated with a luxurious, thick sauce that adds to its silky texture and taste, this is the closest you can get to soupy Din Tai Fung dumplings (Xiao Long Bao).

The BBQ Mushroom and Jalapeno Pizza makes you forget Domino's and Pizza Hut, because their pizza dough is light, layered, yet with a light firmness just on its top.
The dough is complemented with a medley of mushrooms, slices of jalapeno, and generous sprinkles of arugula.
The Indian Masala Stew is brimming with potatoes, carrots, mock meat, while the spices and curry are well-balanced without overpowering.

The Curry Laksa Stew adopts a different stance from the hawker stall fanfare, as it's less oily yet flavorful. All stews come with a complimentary basket of naan slices on the sides

The Tomato Spinach Frittata is an eggy extravaganza brimming with sliced cherry tomatoes, spinach, and a host of other vegetarian ingredients. The moist custard complements the firmness on the outside which yields to the slightest prodding and bite.
Just so you know, there were 15 of us dining. Hence the large number of food ordered allowed me to try all these dishes.
Service at Roots Bangsar
Helmed mostly by foreign waiters, service is prompt, clear, and there were no mistakes.
Pricing at Roots Bangsar
Prices are reasonable given the variety of fusion food and its amazing taste. It matches typical KL prices. The average price for a main course ranges between RM18 to RM36, while the heartier and bigger sourdough pizzas start at RM35 for a 9-inch pizza. All in,
I would say RM30 per pax is a decent amount to pay for delicious food!
Conclusion
I can go on and on ranting about how delicious the food is at Roots Bangsar.
But their diverse menu means that there are many dishes I’ve not tried, leaving me with many more culinary escapades at this fusion vegetarian restaurant in KL.
From the immaculate plating to the warm service and decadent food, Roots Bangsar leaves an indelible impression. It’s one of those vegetarian restaurants where you step in feeling satiated, while you secretly plan your next gourmet indulgence here.
