Their diverse menu makes it easy to find your comfort food. Be it an obligatory luncheon for important clients, or treating family members from afar. Even ringing in festive Chinese celebrations or other joyous occasions, Vego Canteen steps up to expectations, serving plant-based meals that rival authentic meat dishes.
Vego Canteen rewrites the vegetarian cookbook, with their top dishes flaunting impressive presentation and taste to fool you into thinking that it’s meat-based.
Their must-have dishes include the Clay Pot Curry Vegetables, Golden Home Made Tofu, Golden Yam Ring, and the Creamy Butter Prawn (Vegetarian).
Its cozy venue, ample seating space, and well-ventilated interior make Vego Canteen an ideal place to host private events catering to vegan and vegetarian food.
Ease of Parking at Vego Canteen
Located along the busy Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, the only available parking option is street parking. Securing a spot can be difficult, especially during lunch and dinner times.
There are 7 to 8 parking lots in front of the restaurant, and another 20 parking bays located immediately beside the shop.
If you’re driving to Vego Canteen, it's best to secure your parking spot before reaching the restaurant. Or hail a Grab ride and disembark at the doorstep. The nearest MRT station is the Jalan Ipoh MRT Station (PY15) on the Putrajaya Line, which is approximately a 10 - 15-minute walk away.
Ambiance at Vego Canteen

Styled to look like a traditional Chinese Restaurant, Vego Canteen’s setup is relatively simple with 2 rows of round tables laid out from the front to the back.
The walls are adorned with photos of their star dishes. There’s an open cabinet featuring a medley of ready-made vegetarian food and sauces for sale, too.
While its interior may not be striking, its vegetarian cuisine is top-notch.
Service at Vego Canteen
The owner took our orders and recommended their specialty with a clear description of ingredients. Courteous and accommodating in handling our order, the service was fast and took approximately 15 minutes for the first dish to be served.
The friendly owner even obliged our request to take a group photo, and threw in a few additional “CNY decorations” to enhance the picture!
Food at Vego Canteen
Vego Canteen is known for vegetarian cuisine that’s wholesome and healthy, minus the oily, heavy feeling common among some traditional Chinese restaurants.
Bursting with flavours and void of heavy seasoning, Vego Canteen harnesses the natural flavours of vegan ingredient, making each dish a delectable rendition.

First up, the Clay Pot Curry Vegetables was a delight to devour with its creamy coconut milk and medley of vegetables that includes long beans, brinjals, tofu puffs, and more.

The Golden Home-Made Tofu was highly addictive and one of a kind. Coated in bread crumbs that’s crisp with each bite, fragrant soya bean aroma infuses this made-from-scratch tofu. Its natural taste permeates all senses as you devour it, allowing the dish to stand out even without sauces or gravy.

While conventional Golden Yam Rings tend to be oily and soggy, Vego Canteen’s checks all the right boxes with perfect execution and presentation.
The Lemon Vege Chicken is another standout, featuring vegan meat chunks that are firm with each bite. Lightly coated with batter and fried to crispy perfection, the vegan meat is smothered in a tangy lemon sauce, striking a right equilibrium between sweet and sour.

The Clay Pot Mixed Mushrooms with Yam served with salted fish (ham yu fa lam) is spot on, or even better than its meat version. Deftly replicating the taste of salted fish’s umami taste to the dot, its savoury sauce drapes the succulent yams and mushrooms in perfect harmony.
Each bite reminds you of how good these flavours are in the meat-based version, but now only healthier.

Finally, the Honey BBQ Pork (char siu pork) is not to be brushed aside. Painstakingly glazed multiple times with pure honey and meticulously oven-baked, the mock pork flakes in layers, mimicking the finest cuts of the real thing.
Pricing at Vego Canteen
Ala carte meals like sweet and sour chicken rice and fried black pepper udon starts at RM13.90, while Chinese main course dishes are priced from RM28 onwards.
At these affordable prices, you’ll get immense satisfaction not just from great savings, but the gourmet contentment after feasting on mind-blowing, tasty dishes.
Conclusion
Vego Canteen is unlike your normal vegetarian shop. The fine selection of mock meat and vegan seafood replacements allows Vego Canteen to set a culinary tone that exceeds expectations.
The amalgamation of varied tastes, coming from natural ingredients and the substitute meat that’s healthy and wholesome, makes their food highly sought after.
Presentation of food is impeccable, yet its pricing is humble and affordable.
